Two and Older - A Day in My Life

As the young horses develop at DeGraff Stables, we like to begin their under saddle careers in a slow and methodical way that progresses from one step to the next.  As they learn to wear a saddle and a bit in their mouth, we want them to become very comfortable with navigation at the walk, trot and canter; both in a confined space and out and about the farm.

Much time is spent from the ground. Jenna, after mounting and riding in the stall, the team progresses to the round pen and becomes adept in a smaller space before heading to the large indoor arena.  We are committed to having the young horse travel forward and they are allowed their head to balance until they eventually become strong enough to drop into a frame suitable for the hunter under saddle horse.
