Our History

DeGraff Stables, Inc. officially incorporated in 1985... but the beginnings were much, much earlier... Robin, who self professes to 'never having had a doll' ... only horse cut-outs, horse pictures, horse books, horse articles, stuffed horses, plastic horses, stick horses... credits her parents, Corky and Tootsie, and now, her husband, David, the DeGraff Stables staff and their equine professional partners for allowing her to follow her dreams.  It started with a pony named Cocoa when she was seven and today Robin believes that the DeGraff Stables carefully cultivated breeding program boasts among the country's best young horse offerings for pleasure and sport horse venues.

Having to wait a year, once Cocoa was brought home, to be old enough to join the local horse 4-H program was sheer torture, Robin grew up participating and winning at the local and state levels, then developing into a 4-H Leader and participating for years with exceptional horseback and handicapped riding programs.  She worked around the country with top breeding and show stables with Morgans, Saddlebreds and then running Quarter Horses for years before concentrating on pleasure and sport horses.  With the acquisition of Indian Artifacts, everything changed!   Corney as it may sound... there he was... the horse she had always dreamed of; his name was Indian Artifacts!  Purchased as a yearling, it was a fun and exciting road to his AQHA World Championship, and subsequent show accomplishments.  What was a surprise, is how rewarding the breeding aspect has become!

As the years have flown by and each successive foal is born, raised and shown, we strive daily to take our breeding program to the next level.  Each foal is eagerly anticipated and cherished upon arrival.   Our breeding for a new generation of performers has included the addition of part ownership in leading APHA sire and 5-Time World Champion HBF Iron Man and the addition of home-bred sires; DGS IndyGo, Futurity Champion and DGS Vestastic.  DeGraff Stables maintains a lovely 42 acre facility in Port Clinton, Ohio and is currently operating at the exceptional Liberty Farm facility in Midway, Kentucky.

My sister, Chris, is credited with "WhatiWork4" as a website... she knew that all i did was eat, sleep and dream of the horses, no matter the hours and where my regular work took me.  We invite you look through the pages and please contact us...everyone has a story... I would love to hear yours!
