Our History

DeGraff Stables, Inc. officially incorporated in 1985… but the beginnings were much, much earlier… Robin, who confesses to ‘never having had a doll’ … only horse cut-outs, horse pictures, horse books, horse articles, stuffed horses, plastic horses or stick horses and to begging, begging, begging for that first horse!  ….It all started with a pony named Cocoa when she was seven and 30 years later, with the acquisition of Indian Artifacts (1995-2014), as a yearling, everything changed!

Today Robin finds herself with the farm she had dreamed of and working to keep it at the top of it’s game.  DeGraff Stables is standing world-class stallions and the carefully ‘cultivated’ breeding program boasts among the country’s best young horse offerings for english type events and sport horse venues.

Breeding and raising both the dam and the sire, DeGraff Stables has produced an AQHA Reserve World

Super Horse and World, Reserve World or National Champions in Quarter Horse, Paint, Pinto and Appaloosa breeds. There are NSBA World, Reserve World and Year End High Point Champions, American Warmblood Registry Inspection Champions and additionally Year End High Point Year End Champions in USDF (Dressage) competitions. WOW!

Our breeding for a new generation of performers lead to a natural transition into breeding and standing stallions which included the acquisition of double registered 5-time APHA World Champion HBF Iron Man (1996-2017), APHA World Show Slot Champion; Invite The Artist (APHA) and currently on all four Leading Sires Lists, 2-time PHBA World Champion; Caribbean Touchdown (AQHA/APHA/PHBA) and the addition of home-bred sires; AQHA & NSBA World Champion; DGS Vintage, AQHA Performance Champion; DGS Replicated, PtHA Reserve World Champion; DGS TheEntertainer (AQHA/APHA), Futurity Champion; DGS IndyGo (2005-2018) and World Champion Sire; DGS Vestastic (gelded).

Robin’s background is diverse. It includes 4-H local and state shows, becoming a 4-H Leader and participating for years with exceptional horseback and handicapped riding programs. Graduating from Meredith Manor School of Horsemanship with honors, she traveled around the country with top Morgan and Saddlebred breeding and show stables and running Quarter Horses before choosing to concentrate on hunt seat and sport type horses. Reproductive experience was gained by completing courses at Colorado State University, Ohio State University and ‘the School of Hard Knocks’…

DeGraff Stables maintains a lovely 42 acre reproduction facility in Port Clinton, Ohio. Robin’s sister, Chris, is credited with naming the “WhatiWork4” website… she knew that all i did was eat, sleep and dream of the horses, no matter the hours and where my regular work took me.
